When it comes to choosing a wall-mounting receptacle, the MS90555 connector may come to mind. But it’s not the only option. The AEC 90555 is a commercial version of the MS90555 connector and offers several advantages for industrial applications.

Here are the differences between these two wall-mounting receptacles and why the AEC 90555 might be the right choice for your project.

What Are MS90555 and AEC 90555 Connectors?

These wall-mounting receptacles are two different versions of the same generator connector.

Both connectors feature robust construction designed to withstand extreme conditions, but they cater to different needs. The MS connector is the mil-spec version, meaning it meets the standardization and requirements set out by the U.S. Department of Defense. The AEC 90555 is a commercial version, featuring a high-power receptacle with a four-hole flange for mounting on the power source of 22992, Class L applications.

Robust Construction for Tough Environments

The same standards of robustness and durability in the MS90555 connector are met in the commercial AEC 90555 version. What this means is that you are getting the same strong construction and high-quality materials meant to withstand extreme temperatures, moisture, vibration and other mechanical stress.

While the MS90555 connector is ideal for military applications where reliability in harsh conditions is non-negotiable, the AEC 90555 connector mirrors that same high level of performance without having to meet the more stringent DoD requirements for military applications – making it a great choice for demanding industrial and commercial applications.

Interchangeability and Compatibility

One of the benefits of the AEC 90555 connector is that it’s interchangeable with other MS-style connectors. This means that if you’re currently using MS90555 connectors (or the mating connector, MS90556), you can seamlessly integrate AEC 90555 without compatibility issues.

AEC 90555 is also compatible with a range of other parts from different manufacturers.

Advantages of the AEC 90555

While both connectors share many similarities, the AEC 90555 offers several advantages that can make it a better fit for non-military applications.

Unlike the MS90555, which comes in a cadmium finish (a 48-hour salt spray resistance), the AEC 90555 has more finishing choices that may better suit your requirements. Custom finish options are available with Amerline connectors, providing greater flexibility. Additionally, cadmium is specced into the more expensive QPL military connectors which has environmental considerations due to the hazardous nature of cadmium.

Amerline’s AEC connectors are built to withstand extreme environments and tough conditions – at a better cost, with faster lead times and more customization options.
